Dr. Annarita Miccio team obtains an AFM Telethon grant for the sickle cell diseases project

The project entitled « Development of Innovative Therapeutic Strategies for Beta-Hemoglobinopathies » owned by Dr. Annarita Miccio, head of « chromatin and gene regulation during development » laboratory at the Imagine Institute, supported by the DIM Thérapie Génique since 2017, received one-year AFM Telethon grant, renewable for a second year. This grant results of the international call for proposals AFM Telethon which aims to support the development of innovative therapeutic approaches for neuromuscular diseases and, more broadly, rare genetic diseases.

Giacomo Frati, the post-doctorant on this project since 2017 and already financed by the DIM Thérapie Génique, also received a post-doctoral fellowship for one year, renewable for a second year, in order to continue his research on the project.

The AFM Telethon grant fully illustrates the leverage effect of the DIM Thérapie Génique program, which the objective is to promote and enhance the excellence of research in Paris Region on societal issues such as personalized medicine and innovative therapies.
